Stephanie's
yoga practice began in 2003. She was an avid exerciser and
even owned a personal treadmill. She worked out at a gym seven days
a week with a trainer and walked for an hour each day. Until the day
she stumbled into her first yoga class (and I mean stumbled) and her
life changed. As she lifted her hips to her first down dog, did her first push-up and survived the warrior series, Stephanie knew she would never step foot in the gym again. Six months later she was doing yoga six to seven days a week, sold her treadmill and began to feel not only the physical effects of yoga but also the emotional ones. A year into her practice Stephanie decided that she wanted to begin teaching and help share the gift she had received with others. In her dynamic and powerful Vinyasa flow classes, Stephanie tries to incorporate physical fitness, mental stress relief and positive body image. She continues to study with instructors across the country including Sean Corn, Brian Kest and others as a way to expand her personal practice and teaching. Stephanie's goals is for everyone to feel the positive effects of yoga whether that means they stay in child's pose for an hour or come into handstand on their first try. She starts each class with a request that students make an intention for their practice and remember it is not where they have been or where they are going, but where they are now. Be in the moment and breathe! |
| An asana was the word that described the cushion or blanket on which the yogi sat to meditate. Today the word asana means "posture." There are over 600 yoga asanas. |
